Alpine Club Of Pakistan Holds Kids Climbing Competition.



Alpine Club of Pakistan organized the sport climbing competition for kids at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. About 200 girls and boys from different schools of Islamabad; in three different categories U-14, U-12, U-10; separately boys and girls participated in this event. The competition was to provide an opportunity to for aspiring climbers to learn apply climbing techniques and methods to improve climbing speed. The event also aimed at to create awareness amongst common people about sport climbing. Young children also enjoyed competitive environment that would help them to improve their climbing skills at initial phase of their learning of climbing.

Prize Distribution ceremony was held at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Col Manzoor Hussain, President, Alpine Club of Pakistan was Chief Guest at this occasion.

Ms. Fatima Husnain, Masooma, stood 1st and second whereas Farwa Abbas and Sarosh shared 3rd position in Under-10 category. Rida Ali, Mah Noor and Khawla secured 1st, 2nd and third position respectively in U-12 category whereas In U-14 category Moazzma, Nimra and Fajar stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

In boys category U-10 Umar Bilal, Abu Zar and Ali Abbas Hussnain secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. In U-12 category Hanzallah Hussain Zafar, Abdul Quddus and Hamza secured 1st, 2nd and third positions. Whereas in U-14 category Asghar, Ahmed Shaoor and Khalid were awarded 1st, 2nd and third position. Mr. Hanzallah Hussain Zafar stood overall first in all categories by climbing in 15.50 seconds.

While speaking at this occasion, the President, ACP appreciated the skills and quality of climbers shown in the competition. He assured that ACP shall continue to provide such activities to the youth. He thanked to the management of Pak-Turk Schools, Modern Language School, IIUI School System (I-8, G-10 & PPWD Campuses); GSIS, Aims Education System and Federal Government schools which participated in this competition. He also appreciated the co-operation of Pakistan Sports Board, Capital Development Authority and Islamabad Alpine Association for making this event a real big success.

Mr. Saad Tariq Siddiqi, Vice President of ACP presented the report of the competition, and lauded the performance of young climbers.Mr. Abu Zafar Sadiq, Secretary, ACP highlighted the importance of climbing. He held that it is not only a recreational or competitive sport rather it is a complete learning programme that develops basic life skills like creativity, confidence, fear control, problem solving, team work etc.

At the occasion Ali Muhammad, Muhammad Abdullah, Azam Balti, Adnan Malik, Adnan Sami were also present.
